There's a seven year-old Tulsa boy who is missing his favorite toy.
Not just any toy, Ethan's specialized bike was taken from his front yard Wednesday night. Ethan has Cerebral Palsy, and this was his way to get around.
“Ethan can't do a lot of things that the other kids can do, you know Ethan, he can't get up, and he can't play football, soccer,” Ethan’s mom Marie Thurman said.
Along with Cerebral Palsy, Ethan also has dead spots in his brain and other health problems, but lately that didn't matter, because Ethan had a special bike.
“This specific bike holds Ethan up. It helps him with his motor skills. It holds his feet on the pedals,” his mom said.
Ethan can’t ride his bike anymore.
“Someone stole it, and I don't know who,” he said.
You can hear it in Ethan’s voice. He’s crushed.
“I don't care who wanted it. I should have it. I didn't buy it for them,” Ethan said.
His mom is upset beyond words that Ethan’s special bike is nowhere to be found.
“I can't afford another one for my son. It costs $1,199.”
That specialized bike helps Ethan get around, and it helps him have some independence. Without it, there's not much he can do with his condition to get around.
“It's not that you're just taking away from my son, you're taking away my son's mobility,” Marie said, “It's the season of sharing and giving, not the season of taking.”
In the spirit of the season, Marie wants just one thing.
“Please bring Ethan's bike back.”
If someone see's Ethan’s bike they can drop it off at TherapyTime near 41
st Street and Harvard Avenue. That physical therapy office is also collecting donations to buy Ethan a new specialized bike if his is not returned, if his bike is found the donations will go toward purchasing another bike for a child with special needs.
