An engineering company with the Oklahoma National Guard returned from Afghanistan Friday afternoon, making holiday stop in Broken Arrow.
Their welcome home ceremony wrapped up Friday afternoon at the Broken Arrow Armed Forces Reserve Center.
"Christmas is a very important time for most of the people in our unit. You know, there's no time like Christmas," said Capt. Josh Lawson, he just returned home with his company.
No time like Christmas for the Johnson family. Shaunci and Casey have three kids and Casey's been in Afghanistan with his unit since February.
"We've been married six years this past October," said Shaunci.
Casey has been deployed three times. But his family is looking forward to him staying home for a while.
“He should be home for a while, at least we hope so. They've been going for about every three to four years, so at least that much. But hopefully he can finish his career and retire and be done with it altogether," she said.
Shaunci said it really hit her that Casey was coming home when they got back to the states a few weeks ago and she's knows exactly what she'll say to him when she sees him, “I love you,” she said.
“I'm just really excited. I'm glad to be home,” said Casey.
