Skiatook police are looking for two men who shattered the glass window of a pickup truck and took an AR 15 rifle, ammunition and credit cards.

Detective Jerry Bullard said the thieves started using those cards immediately in Sperry, Turley and north Tulsa.

Surveillance photos show the men police believe are the thieves.

"You've got two guys that are obviously criminals and are now in possession of a semiautomatic rifle. That's not good. I would imagine in all likelihood their intent is to sell it, rather than use it," Bullard said.

Gun dealers FOX23 spoke with said there's a large market for the parts. They said parts for these guns can go for nearly $600.

"That was a nice rifle and they're expensive and the victim would like to have it back," said Bullard.

Why must you call it an "Assault Rifle" its not a Assault Rifle. The AR in the AR-15 doesn't stand for Assault Rifle, it stands for Armalite. Assault is defined as "the act of creating apprehension of an imminent harmful or offensive contact with a person. An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm". Any weapon therfore by defenetition could be an "Assault Weapon" if it causes apprehension of an harmful or offensive contact.
