A local pastor is taking major heat after a controversial sermon went viral on YouTube.

It happened at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook.

The clip of Pastor Jim Standridge's sermon has more than 83,000 views. FOX23 spoke to Standridge, and said he's holding his church accountable.

"I noticed on the calendar I'm supposed to marry you all. What makes you think I would marry you? You're one of the sorriest church members I have," he said in the sermon.

Standridge is making no apologies.

"You're not worth 15 cents and you want me to marry you to her?" he asked.

In this exclusive interview, he told FOX23 if there is a problem in his church, his members have to deal with him, even if it's in public.

"I do that a lot. If you were a member here I might call your name out sometime," he said.

This video of his sermon is now the talk of the town in Skiatook.

"His duty as a minister is to protect his congregation. It's like a business you don't bring everybody into one room and condemn them. That's not right. It destroys the person that is actually getting condemned," said one person who viewed the video.

"It's pretty harsh," said another.

"Obviously it comes across as pretty direct and pretty blunt, but I don't' know what the context of the message was and what was going on," pointed out another viewer.

Standridge said he is a loving and caring man, even if he comes across harsh or stern. He said he's not afraid to hold people accountable in a public setting.

"Most preachers would never do that, but I'm not most preachers," he said.

Standridge said the young man he called out in the video is no longer a member of the church. He also said he's not there to grow a church, he is there to grow people.

I am not surprised from a group of cloistered rich folk that attend there. I am not surprised by his judgment. The rest of us are going to hell anyway.

What about outsiders visiting his church that day? Wonder how they feel witnessing all that. My husband was in his service the day he called his own son out in church about not marrying him. He has never gone back. This man is hearing from a demon and not God! That is no annointing! His I love you's somehow give him the right to say whatever he wants to and that's ok??? The people that attend his church are brainwashed. I feel sorry for them. The Holy Spirit convicts in love while this pastor and satan are doing it in oppression and condemnation. I think this pastor is setting up his resume to join the Westboro Baptist church! Bunch of crazy prideful nutjobs!

He may not have been worth 15 cents to that Pastor or so called pastor but he was sure worth enough for Jesus to come and die on the cross for! Tell that to your pastor.

Most importantly, I hope this isn't the first time the young man heard about his lack of godliness and faithfulness to his church. I hope the pastor had already spent a considerable amount of time pleading for his repentance in private. Such a public rebuke did happen in scripture, with Jesus or Paul, but it was to expose the sin of the self-righteous. The tone of this rebuke might fit that kind of sitation. I don't know. The young man left the church rather than deal with whatever issue the pastor addressed. I'm sure he will have no problem finding a pastor who will actually love to add anyone to the church roll regardless of their lifestyle.

He seems like Dr. House. Instead of saving the physical, he's saving the spiritual.

You guys should sell tickets to the show. I would buy! You could have him dress up like Stone Cold Steven Austin and deliver some open hand slaps. Heck . . . I would even throw a $20 in the offering plate in addition to the ticket price to see that!! Keep up the great work!

A leader of a church is there to present the teachings of Christ, not to stand above others and make examples of what's wrong with peoples' lives in his congregation. Is he without sin? He probably thinks so. These kinds of religious leaders are self-absorbed, narcissistic and often think they are above the laws of both man and God.

You go BRO.JIM, just shut it all down, the next sermon was probably about tithing, he didn't mention the ESCALADE?, or the DENALI!, many people are no longer members there because of this kind of attitude

I dont rememember ever a time Jesus REBUKED a sinner. He rebuked the PHARISEES that thought they were better than the sinners.....but never blasted the sinners. "Take up your bed and walk.....go and sin no more....let he who is without sin cast first stone....i come not to CONDEMN the world but to give everlasting life..." Jesus is the GOOD SHEPHERD, and all pastors are are shepherds.....and they are to follow the GOOD SHEPHERD.
