FOX23 told you the story of 83-year-old Ken Cooper and his bravery during an overnight shooting.
Cooper was home alone Wednesday when someone came into his home near north Buffalo and Village Park Drive, and shot him in the stomach. Cooper called 911 to report a possible burglary and also stated he had been shot. Neighbors say they heard a loud bang around 2:15 a.m. but went back to bed. Police tell FOX23 there were no immediate signs of forced entry, so Cooper could have known the shooter and let him in the house willingly. A shell casing was found on the floor in the entry-way to the house. The investigation is still pending.
Ken Cooper was taken to the hospital and had surgery the morning after the shooting. Four days later, his granddaughter posted on Facebook that he had passed away at the hospital.
FOX23 spoke with Sien Shelton Funeral Home who said they are doing all the arrangements for Cooper's funeral.
Skiatook police tell us they haven't had any incidents like this since 2001.
