Hotels and motels may be some of the few parts of town sex offenders can legally stay that doesn’t violate a safe zone restriction around a school or park.

But we found, when sex offenders stay, you probably will have no idea.

At the Lake Shore Motel in Mannford, we found four sex offenders registered at this address at one point.  The property happens to fall within an area where sex offenders can legally live

The motel owner says he tries to keep sex offenders out… but he relies on police to notify him, many times three weeks or so after the sex offender has moved in.  He told me he is in a difficult position because he doesn’t want to ask every person if they are a sex offender, and he doesn’t want to scare away other guests by posting a notice.

Sex offenders in motels shouldnt be allowed...It seems to me that it would violate the community notification act. I struggle to pay my bills and work hard. Alot of these men do not even look for work but act like victims themselves. I have a first-hand story, but won't go into it here. I know, that I would like to sit laid up in a motel and watch tv(they watch porn) and not have to clean house or mow a yard. I just know that I have lived this first-hand and seen the "poor pitiful me" mentality of these offenders. It is not HARD to sit in jail and have your food given to you, your clean laundry, and free medical care. It is the families that pay the price ...and of course, the victims and their families. I think there is an answer, and it wouldnt be anything nice! I wasn't given a choice to have a family member as a sex offender. He didnt ask my permission before he raped someone.

did anyone ever stop to realize some of these offenders made a mistake or was lied to when they were "comitting" their "crime" and the girl, that lied about her age, gets off with nothing? where are these people supposed to live and where are they supposed to work. i would rather know where the "bad" offenders the REAL offenders live instead of running them underground and not knowing. and all this "no offenders allowed" crap is going to run the innocent and the real offenders both underground. grow up. when u see someone on the offender list and it says child crime you let your imagination run crazy how about the 18 year old boy that made out and felt up on the 17 year old girl that is feeling him up just the same only to find out when he is arrested later when her parents find out that she was only 14? and now he is labeled as an offender forever, what if that happened to you. do you call it fair for all this crap to happen to you? is it fair for you to be kept from working and living?

Where are offenders supposed to live? Not all of them are "bad" offenders and the news catogorizes them all in one. some one might have had to use the rest room and did it outside at the wrong time, or some one might have lied about their age.... i dont know what this person or that person has done. i am not going to walk down the street asking myself all day if that person murdered/raped/robbed some one before. if sex offenders are not allowed to live some where then murderers and burgalers and woman/man beaters should not be allowed to live anywhere either. grow up. we are running people, and some actually innocent, out of jobs and homes. i would rather them be registered somewhere than to hide and not know where they are at. consider that.

this is a load of crap... so someone did something in the past. a sex offender is what im supposed to be scared of? what if the person in the room next to me in an ex murderer. or an ex drug dealer. or an ex crack addict. or maybe they are some mysterious dark wizard that is going to cast an evil spell on me. how would i know. i wouldnt and honestly i dont care. am i supposed to live my life in fear. trust no one. things happen. and yes they suck and i dont agree with a sex crime. but nor do i agree with a burglary or a murder, or even a graffity artist. point is everyone does something we dont like. and could potentially fear. is the person next door to me going to register as theft offender. so i know to keep my doors locked. or maybe i could just not have nice things. or maybe i could just not have kids cause they might get sexualy mistreated. wake up america. stuff happens. alot. im sure all of you that stand against these offenders have in some way done something that maybe they fear you for. grow up and realize everyone makes mistakes. and most learn from them. check yourself before you go tormenting and tracking others... let he who is without sin cast the first stone... this means you america. now who can honestly throw a stone now??? thats what i thought.

I never thought about sex offenders in a hotel since we never let our kids run around the hotel doing what they want. We believe in supervising our kids. The ones who need to be concerned are those who have no control over their children and let them run wild to do as they please. Heads up - child molesters eat out at resteraunts too, they shop at grocery stores... all places a lot of you let your kids run wild. Try paying attention to your kids, spend time with them - the best protection they have is a parent being with them.

Meant to add that many of the 12-13 year old girls in my neighborhood can pass for 20 at least, and say they are 18 or 20 all the time. They get off free for lying to a man "boy" but the man is marked for life. When did we start to condemn men for their whole lives for probably a one time incident. When did we lose all perspective when it comes to this matter. AND YES I was raped and molested as a child for 3 years and still found it possible to live a normal life after wards. We need to stop treating anyone worse than we would a wild animal. They are still human and deserve a decent place to live and a chance for forgiveness.

Are you aware that if a man at midnight gets out of his car on a dirt road and pees that is considered a sex crime? I agree if a person is really guilty of rape or molestation of a child then execute them but we need to stop making everything a sex crime. It is becoming a farce. Where are they supposed to live in the street "?" where they are really free to do anything and not be caught, or live in a motel or house where the police can watch.

Why not just execute the person if they are found guilty of sexually assaulting a child? I'm sure will say this doesn't fix the problem and the dealth penalty isn't a deterant. Maybe not, but it sure takes care of the repeat offenders.

Police will tell you that sex offenders dont commit those crimes in their neighborhoods, so this is really a non-story. If anything, it shows how overblown the whole sex registry mess has become.

By the way, Fox, please fix this "Post a Comment" field. It's awful.
