A judge is expected to formally sentence Robert Yerton, Jr, Friday afternoon in a Tulsa County courtroom.
Yerton, who was once the assistant principal at Skelly Elementary, was convicted in August of sexually abusing a relative and molesting an 8-year-old student at Skelly.
The jury has recommended 27 years in prison. Yerton's defense attorney is expected to call a number of witnesses to testify in the sentencing hearing. That testimony could last more than two hours.
Yerton's attorney, Richard O'Carroll, is also expected to file a motion seeking a new trial, alleging coercion during the twelve-hour jury deliberation. Jurors acquitted Yerton on two other counts involving other students.
