A judge is expected to formally sentence Robert Yerton, Jr, Friday afternoon in a Tulsa County courtroom.

Yerton, who was once the assistant principal at Skelly Elementary, was convicted in August of sexually abusing a relative and molesting an 8-year-old student at Skelly.

The jury has recommended 27 years in prison.  Yerton's defense attorney is expected to call a number of witnesses to testify in the sentencing hearing.  That testimony could last more than two hours.

Yerton's attorney, Richard O'Carroll, is also expected to file a motion seeking a new trial, alleging coercion during the twelve-hour jury deliberation.  Jurors acquitted Yerton on two other counts involving other students.

Sarah McAmis, Assistant DA: McAmis commended all the people who tried, from different schools and churches over the years, to come forward and express their concern about Yerton and young boys. She said, because of his professional standing and personality, he was able to hold off the accusations for a long time. "This is a man who, at first blush, no one would expect. He has a good education, a good background, was a churchgoer, but, he's still a very deviant, dangerous man," McAmis said. Maybe little Sarah McAmis has plans on becoming the next Tulsa County District Attorney. She sure is playing all the correct cards. People in Oklahoma like a hanging D.A. and she sure is a hanging Assistant DA. I think the Judge and her should have a ill gotten victory dinner together.

This is just hearsay with no facts to really back any of it up. Sarah McAmis, Assistant DA just used hearsay she had no real evidence, what a worthless Tulsa Oklahoma Assistant DA but with a worthless Tulsa County District Attorney as Tim Harris is, what can we really expect. Sarah McAmis, Assistant DA: "There's so much overwhelming evidence and you would expect and wish and hope that someone would stand up and take responsibility, beg for forgiveness, and give closure to his family and to the victims, but for whatever reason, he can't do it, won't do it," said Assistant District Attorney Sarah McAmis. HEARSAY nothing but HEARSAY. McAmis commended all the people who tried, from different schools and churches over the years, to come forward and express their concern about Yerton and young boys. HEARSAY nothing but HEARSAY.
