Thousands of runners and their families are expected to come together this weekend at Tulsa’s Veteran’s Park for the Color Run benefitting the River Parks Foundation.

There are 30,000 to 40,000 runners and fans expected to spread across from the Heart Association's Heart Walk near the Blue Dome in Downtown Tulsa to the Color Run at Veterans Park and ORU’s Pink Run this weekend.

Tulsa Police say it’s taking extra precautions.

"We'll have our bomb techs, our bomb canine dogs in the area to do a sweep through, just so everybody, just precaution based on Monday's events,” said TPD Special Events Coordinator Sgt. Les Young.

Two explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line are now being investigated as an act of terrorism.

Tulsa Police officers are reminding people to report anyone suspicious.

"People who are suspicious are the people when you look at them and whatever they're doing, or however they're looking at you makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck,” said Young.

At this weekend’s runs people will see badges but also Tulsa police wearing reflective vests making them even more visible for crowd control.

"The police department has actual officers involved in probably 100 to 150 events per year,” said Young.

These events typically go off without a hitch, Tulsa police officers are determined to keep it that way.

“We are trained at our best to make sure it is safe for them to participate,” said Young.

Tulsa Police also work other special events at the BOK Center, TU’s Reynolds Center and Drillers and recommend if you see a bag or a backpack dumped to call attention to a uniformed officer or employee to investigate.

"People who are suspicious are the people when you look at them and whatever they're doing, or however they're looking at you makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck" ...which is funny because it describes quite a few police.
