Business at Dong's Guns is in the midst of a holiday surge. Twice as many people as usual are coming into this store to purchase guns, either for themselves, or in many cases for their wives or girlfriends.

“It's been extremely busy,” store manager David Stone told FOX23.

How busy have things gotten? On Monday, Stone says one of the slowest days of the week was crazy.

“Today in the first two hours, we sold 15 guns, in the first two hours,” he said.

Just like K-Mart or Best Buy, it’s people needing something for under the tree, albeit what's sold here is something different.

“There are a lot of people buying guns as gifts.”

Stone says it's actually a specific group of people.

“Lots more people are buying them for their wives and girlfriends,” Stone said.

Guys who know they can't be everywhere all the time.

“They want them to feel safe at home when they're gone you know.”

While they may not have the bling of a ring or the wow factor of a flat screen TV, they do have one thing in common with those big ticket items: the price. Most guns sell from between $350 to $500.

David says you better make sure she loves it, “Gun sales are final, we don't do exchanges or anything like that on guns, because once we've done all that paperwork (we can’t take it back)”

All gun buyers who purchase their gun from a store must go through a federal background check. That background check does not have to happen if the sale is between two individuals.
