Golden tickets to Hollywood were handed out on Wednesday evening in the much anticipated Season 12 of American Idol.

The season debuted with three new judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban.

The new personalities behind the judges’ desk have created buzz along with the competing talent.

FOX23 met all of the judges in Oklahoma City during round two of auditions.

Veteran Idol judge, Randy Jackson, told FOX23 it will take a special performer to become the Season 12 Idol winner.

“Looking for unbelievable talent, uniqueness, somebody that's got that star thing,” said Jackson, “Also an unbelievable voice.”

Country music artist Keith Urban differs in his opinion on what he is looking for in presentation.

He says that raw talent is the most important piece of the puzzle. “When they don’t have that star thing going on that is when it is the best,” said Urban.

Rap artist Nicki Minaj told FOX23 she was looking for a contestant who was unique and confident. “Be themselves, have confidence and prove that they are the best,” said Minaj.

America Idol continues Thursday night at 7 p.m. on FOX followed by FOX23 News at 9 p.m.

Exclusive interviews with the judges and the contestants on their path to become the next American Idol will continue on FOX23 this season.
