SAND SPRINGS, OK -- A popular Sand Springs pastor vanishes; now his congregation and his family are praying he’s found, safe.
FOX23's Jamie Oberg tells us the latest on this mystery.
After Pastor David Emigh didn't show up for Wednesday night’s church service his wife called police. She was too upset to talk about the disappearance Thursday, instead, speaking through the church attorney who is also a church member.
"They're in their praying a believing,” Word of Life Fellowship Church Attorney and member, Michael King said.
Concerned congregation members enter a private prayer service for their missing pastor, David Wayne Emigh.
“People are gathering together just asking the Lord to bring him home safely,” King said. "I hope he feels the love that these people and we believe he'll come home safely."
Fifty-eight-year-old Emigh has been leading services at word of life fellowship church for more than 30 years.
"He's just a wonderful caring man,” King added. "He's not only a pastor for us, he's a friend, and we’ve all known him a long, long time, we know the family his kids grew up here."
Assistant chief of police Mike Carter says the pastor's wife last heard from her husband around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, when he told her he was going home to get a book.
"He left the church in the truck and he hasn't been seen since,” Asst. Police Chief in Sand Springs, Mike Carson said.
Police have not found Emigh's truck and no evidence of foul play, but say they are not ruling it out.
"We could have foul play involved or we could have a case of someone who just needed time away, we don't know, we hope it's the latter."
The community is helping by putting the pastor's picture on storefronts throughout town, as the congregation asks god for pastor David Emigh to walk back through their church doors.
“We believe our pastor's going to be here on Sunday,” King said.
Emigh was last seen wearing blue jeans and a black leather jacket, driving a black 2008 Ford pick-up.
