Sand Springs city officials announced they will be holding two public input forums over the span of the next two weeks, to hear citizens’ input on how proposed Vision2 funding should be used in their community.
The public forums are being hosted by City Manager Rocky Rogers and encourage the public to make suggestions for quality of life and economic projects to be a part of Sand Springs’ Vision2 funds. Rogers believes these forums help ensure the citizens have an opportunity to provide input into the plan for Vision2.
“I feel the meetings accomplish three things: first, they provide a forum for the citizens of Sand Springs to hear the facts about the extension of Vision2025, Rogers said. “Secondly, they allow the citizens to provide their input into projects and uses of the added funds that will become available to the City to improve infrastructure and or quality of life; and third, they give staff the opportunity to address any concerns that may exist.”
Vision2 is a November 6 ballot initiative that includes both an economic development proposition and a quality of life proposition, which gives individual communities within Tulsa county, funds for locally-identified projects. The ballot initiative would be an extension of the current Vision2025 6/10 of a cent sales tax.
“I believe this Vision2 initiative is twice as important as Vision2025,” Sand Springs Mayor Mike Burdge said. “The challenges we face are twice as difficult and this is certainly no time for us to not do anything. I feel this will be a major step forward for our community’s and our region’s future.”
