Sands Springs police have arrested a man in connection with the attempted rape of a Sand Springs woman.

Detectives arrested Steven Bowes on charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and attempted forcible sodomy.

Police say on Sunday, a girl was jogging in River City Park in Sand Springs when a man with a gun and a knife forced her into the woods where he tried to rape her.

Police say she fought off her attacker, possibly even stabbing him in the leg in the process.

The victim ran to a nearby medical facility, where she was treated and released.
