The Rogers County Sheriff's Office is using its sense of humor when it comes to looking for a drug suspect.

A bag of marijuana plants on the side of a country road has become a Facebook sensation.

It’s all because of a tongue-in-cheek, lost and found notice posted by the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office.

Turns out the discovery might lead to a big pot operation in that county.

The bag was dumped on a dead end road in Oologah yesterday and deputies
knew they probably wouldn’t find the grower of the pot.

So they had some fun and posted a picture of the pot on Facebook labeling it as a lost and found:

Rogers County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the owner of a large bag of marijuana that was found on a dead end road in the Oologah area.

If this is yours or know who it belongs to come by the Sheriff’s Office and meet with ...one of courteous deputies that will be more than happy to talk to you.

The owner can expect to be whisked away to a luxury suite with all the amenities that one can expect from a 5 star holding facility. Do not worry about packing a bag since we provide the finest Egyptian cotton garments in a lovely shade of orange.

You will also be greeted by other like-minded individuals that will make your stay as pleasant as possible while you wait to meet with one of our distinguished judges.

Sincerely,

Rogers County Sheriff’s Office

“What I wrote, it was right off the top of my head. We do have a fine, courteous staff and we do have a wonderful facility in the jail, very clean. Egyptian cotton it would be nice, it's good looking stuff back there," said Captain Jerry Smittle.

The deputy’s lost and found notice had more than 800 shares and 500 comments on the Rogers County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

"Did I think it was going to go this much? No, no. We were having a good time with it," said Smittle.

Some didn’t believe the marijuana was real but it tested positive for marijuana.

“There is no ducking the smell,” said Smittle.

What’s not a laughing matter is that 90 percent of Roger’s County 200 inmates are locked up because of marijuana and other drugs.

The leading drug abused in the county is meth but with this type of grow that was found deputies believe someone will start growing the drug again.

"We make a joke out of it but in all seriousness we hope that we get some tips and we are able to find out where this came from or someone else who is growing in the area," said Smittle.

The bag is evidence this could be a serious pot operation with growers worried law enforcement is too close.

"This is a well growth, someone took the time. It is wet and sticky, this was done yesterday,” said Smittle.

This could possibly open up a bigger investigation.

"It does let us know in the Oologah area that someone definitely has an indoor grow," said Smittle.

Rogers County Sheriff’s deputies say they will destroy the plants.

A bonus for the post is that it attracted hundreds of new likes to the Sheriff’s Office Facebook Fan page which could mean more crime tips.

Rogers Co. is NOT joking. I am a now 40 year old female but back in 2004 Rogers Co. sentenced me to serve 3 years in D.O.C. (prison-department of correction) for possession of marijuana, needless to say I did my time & was released but here's the kicker the amount of marijuana that I did 3 years over was no more than the size of my pinky fingernail. So what's in the past is in the past right every so often I look my name up on the OSCN, if I get the urge yo do something like that again, & seeing my name the felony charge & reading court transcrips always does the trick for me, The urge mysteriously disappears. Here's yet another kicker.., recently rogers co. & without notifying me, has took it upon there selves to change my once felony-possession of marijuana charge to a possession of CDS (marijuana) I didn't know that marijuana was a "controlled dangerous substance" & I didn't know that after you pleaded guilty to a crime and after you complete your punishment then 8 years later the can I can take a plan in cells to change your charge and they don't even have to notify you. If you don't believe me your more than welcome to look me up . My Oklahoma DOC # 379183

We all know 1 acre of hemp yields more paper then 40 acres of trees in a much faster grow season....we all know hemp is important...but pushing kids underground to "score" some pot pushes them to a "drug dealer" who likely sales other drugs. If we were not driven underground would I have been offered pills or speed when weed was dry? Let stop pushing pot smoker of all age underground to these ghettos to score from a "drug dealer" and legalize it, tax it and control it rather then these small time drug dealers in bad parts of town. Almost everyone is for legalizing it or for to be decriminalize

lets remember george washington was a hemp rope maker, and the sad fact theres no way anyone can deny it's legitimate medicinal applications,90% of the worlds population of doctors agrees as does our own american medical acco. not to mention the countless university studys, I find it appauling that so much focus is wasted on a bunch of giggling potheads and people who wasted 17 trillion dollors of "bailout" taxpayers money on hookers and lavish hotels and bonuses for people already making so much they couldn't spend it in 100 years are allowd to raom free without fear of repercusions

Lock em up...really? This is why Oklahoma locks up more harmless people than any place on earth! Why not reclassify a very useful plant?

I was one of the people who shared this on Facebook, because I thought the description was so funny. I was having a bad day yesterday and reading that just made me feel better. I am pretty sure the idiots who dumped it have seen it and are laughing too.

I agree Heinze0904, it is a great use of our tax dollars to lock up pot growers for life sentences. Or hell, we could lock them up for 10 - 20 years so when they come out they'll be really institutionalized and commit worse crimes to get back in prison.

Someone with a sharp eye pointed out that the photo is of male plants that were probably deliberately discarded from a large grow operation.

Im sure a lot of cancer patients who treat their pain with medical marijuana are very amused at the RCSO laughing at their expense.
