Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton says deputies foiled an escape attempt at the county jail.
Walton says a maintenance worker discovered a hole on the roof that connected the jail's kitchen vent. During a shakedown Friday, deputies searched the public areas as well as inmate cells.
Michael McNickle and Jerome Shavers admitted they made the hole and removed the vent.
The two work in the kitchen. They told deputies they used bodily force and spoon to pry open the vent to reach the roof.
The hole was big enough for a person or contraband to fit through. No one was able to escape and no weapons or drugs were smuggled inside.
McNickle and Shavers face additional charges for attempted escape.
