Donations are pouring in to increase the reward to find an arsonist responsible for a New Year’s Eve fire where a Tulsa firefighter was hurt.

James O’Neal, 35, is breathing on his own after inhaling smoke while fighting a fire in the 49 hundred block of north Elwood on Saturday. His fellow firefighters revived him and he is in intensive care at the hospital.

The reward fund is now $3500 thanks to funds from the Crime Commission, International Association of Firefighters Local 176, local businessman Brett Baker, Deril and Robbin Lees, Mayor Bartlett’s private funds, and Bartlett’s company Keener Oil.

“By adding to the reward fund, we hope to enhance the probability that someone will come forward with information to help investigators solve this case,” said Mayor Bartlett. “In the interest of public safety, we want to help the fire marshals determine who is responsible for the fire that injured one of our firefighters.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Arson Hotline at 918-596-2776 (ARSN). The reward will be provided to information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

Hey Roadhunter....you are in a class of the most ignorant uneducated insensitive knuckle draggers. You have no business breathing the same air as any man, or woman, who is willing to risk their own life running into a burning building to save others and/or the property of others. My amazing husband does it and he is a big guy....probably so big I find it highly unlikely that you would have the courage to make such a comment to his face if given the opportunity. Know this..if your home was on fire and you needs a firefighter they would save your sorry parse even after demonstrating your disrespectful stupidity. Now, do the right thing...apologize...and pray for that hero and his family. We in Oregon will be praying.

If you dont know this man , then If I were you I would keep your mouth shut. This man is one of the kindest men I know and would bend over backwards for anyone. If you are saying he is fat, again you are wrong and is a very big built guy and could do circles plus some laps around us all. For you to come on here and say such a thing about a person you dont know when him and his poor family have been put through hell is so low. This is one hell of a guy and doesnt deserve a stupid comment like this at all. James is a HERO!!!

A man in that kind of shape has no business going inside burning buildings. He's a danger to himself, and his co-workers.
