Republicans announce new speaker-elect

The new Oklahoma House Republican Caucus has confirmed a new speaker-elect.

T.W. Shannon will become the state’s first African-American speaker of the house. The Lawton representative will replace outgoing house speaker Kris Steele of Shawnee.

72 members of the 101 member House of Representative are Republicans making it the largest GOP majority in Oklahoma history.
