An Eastern Oklahoma Red Cross team is on-site in Spavinaw and another Red Cross volunteer is meeting with affected residents in Delaware County.

Red Cross officials say they expect to dispatch one or more teams to Broken Arrow and Bixby for damage assessment. Red Cross is in contact with area emergency management offices, fire departments and other officials who are providing information about damage and potential safety hazards such as downed power lines.

The Red Cross has opened a shelter in Spavinaw at the First United Methodist Church, 212 Lake Street, and will be driving through neighborhoods offering snacks and water to residents.
