It's a story you'll see only on FOX 23 News.

A Tulsa woman has written a book about her rape and abuse.

We first told you her story back in 2004.

She's fought for justice for years, and finally, she's able to tell her story in her own words.

FOX23's Janna Clark interviewed this woman 5 years ago.

Five years ago Pamela Smith was trying to find someone to tell her story. She wanted justice against her perpetrator.

Since then, she's shared her story hundreds of times, and now she's sharing it with the world in her book, "Begging for Justice."

She's never been afraid to tell her story because Pamela Smith says her story is true.

"I've told the truth, stood on the truth," Pamela said.

After years of begging for justice, Pamela wrote a book - 196 pages that she says were excruciating to re-live.

"I'll never forget it... I wrote the book because of all the injustice the corrupt and the cover-up that took place," Pamela said.

Her story started in 1997. Pamela was an inmate in a work program through the Department of Public Safety.

That building on 36th Street North isn't used by the state anymore, but back then, it was a driver's testing center.

Pamela says in that building, in a dark storage room, is where a former examiner sexually assaulted her.

"I was raped so many times I cannot even count them," Pamela said.

She says it happened over a 7-month period. She remembers the examiner even raped her on her birthday.

"I ask myself over and over why Lord, why me?" Pamela said.

Pamela says she told several state employees, including a supervisor.

"They turned a deaf ear, they laughed in my face," she said.

Later she filed a police report, but the district attorney didn't file charges.

Since then, she pounded the pavement to get thousands of signatures to petition a grand jury to hear her case.

She eventually got her grand jury, but it ruled there wasn't enough evidence for an indictment.

That might be enough to stop some people, but not Pamela.

"When you know the truth, you don't stop," she said.

She says writing the book was a way for her get justice her own way.

"My life will forever be changed because of the rape,

but I feel different I have peace in my heart I have forgiveness

I have to move forward," Pamela said.

In her book, Pamela credits FOX 23 News for being the only station who told her story.

She also writes about Candace Rowe, whom FOX23 interviewed in 2004.

Candace filed a police report in 1997 against the same man who Pamela says raped her.

Candace says when she was 15, the driver's test examiner took her to a back room, locked the door, and said she would "pass" her test if she had sex with him.

Candace says she left immediately.

Charges were never filed.

Pamela tells FOX23 she's not opposed to trying for a second grand jury investigation.

But right now she's focusing on seeing what happens with her book. Pamela wants to be able to speak to women and tell her story, in order to help other victims.
