Passengers aboard the Carnival cruise ship ‘Triumph’ have pulled into an Alabama port after days of being stranded in the Gulf of Mexico.

The week has been an emotional roller coaster for people in Green Country with family members on the vessel.

Tom Cravens of Pryor tells FOX23 he has spent the past week playing phone tag. His wife, Candi, along with her mother and sister, was stuck on board the Triumph with limited cell service.

“Sunday morning is when the fire happened so Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday have not been good days,” said Cravens.

He says it was an emotionally draining week. Cravens says he spent a lot of time on the phone with Carnival representatives.

“Carnival gave me a family member’s hotline to call,” said Cravens, “I questioned about the long lines, about the food.”

Cravens heard from his wife for the first time on Thursday morning. She talked with FOX23 over the phone about the condition on the ship.

“Some have had running toilets, some have not, it has been off and on,” said Candi, “The first night I don’t think anyone had running toilets, and we had potty bags.”

Candi said people on board were trying to make the most of the situation and the crew has been very accommodating.

“The crew here has been amazing they have been working 24 hours straight,” said Candi.

Candi says the passengers on board ate primarily sandwiches and she had to wait for fours to receive it on occasion, but there was plenty of food.

Tom tells FOX23 Candi is scheduled to arrive in Oklahoma on Friday morning.

“I’m just really ready to be home,” said Candi.
