The FAA has released new developments about the husband and wife from Pryor who were killed in a plane crash Monday.
The Civil Air Patrol says the plane was on its way to Claremore but crashed near Huntsville, Arkansas. FOX23 spoke to distraught friends and family who remember Ivan Williams and his wife Adena.
Williams was the owner of Williams Construction and employees say it's too soon to talk on camera but did say he just recently bought the plane. They are heartbroken, as are many people in Pryor.
For Joni Gates, it's hard to believe Ivan Williams and his wife are gone.
"It's just caught me off guard, I'm in shock," said Gates. "I have known Ivan and his family pretty much all of my life."
Ivan is well-known through Pryor not just for being the father of four but for being a successful business owner employing more than 100 people at Williams Construction. He is also remembered for his kindness and generosity.
"All of my boys went to school with his boys, just the nicest, nicest man," said a family friend.
The Civil Air Patrol says they found the couple’s plane near Huntsville, Arkansas on Tuesday morning. The blue and white plane was spotted by a crew flying overhead.
The FAA says it was rainy and cloudy on Monday when the plane dropped off the radar Monday afternoon.
"It's going to be a great loss to the community," said Noama Thompson.
Thompson wears a cross Ivan gave her every day.
"He handed it out to people, that was his mission," said Thompson.
Many people around town have the necklaces. It's even more precious to her now with Ivan's death.
The Williams family has donated a lot to the Pryor community like the Centennial Park. There are also plaques that commemorate other members of the Williams family.
