Members of the United States Postal Service union are rallying outside Congressman John Sullivan’s office, near 57th and Lewis, on Tuesday afternoon hoping to prevent area post office facilities from being closed.
Earlier this month USPS announced it may close more than 250 mail processing facilities, including one in Tulsa, in an effort to cut costs.
Officials say the closings could cost as many as 35,000 jobs. Four facilities in Oklahoma are on the list as possible closures, including Tulsa, McAlester, Poteau and Woodward.
Workers are urging Congressman Sullivan to vote against bills that would allow USPS to make those changes.
