Porum Public Schools have canceled classes for Friday due to illness.
Porum High School Principal Brent Pierce says they have 18% absences right now and that number is growing every day as more students call out sick. They also say 10% of their certified staff is out sick. School officials say they made the decision to cancel Friday's classes since Monday is already out to give students a four day weekend to recover.
While school is canceled the custodial staff will wipe down desks, door knobs, and use disinfectant bombs in areas with lot of contacts.
