Police are searching for two robbers that shot a man in his garage.
Fox23 spent the day talking to neighbors who say this is not a bad neighborhood. Tulsa police say this can happen anywhere.
Around 8 p.m. Monday, police were called to the Lewiston Apartments for a robbery where two men fired several shots and robbed a man.
"We had an individual that was robbed as he was leaving Walgreens. On his way back to his apartment, the suspects confronted him, took his cellphone, took some cash and forced him back to his apartment," says Tulsa police public information officer Leland Ashley.
The victim's roommate didn't open the door so the assailants ran off but police say the robbers didn't stop there.
They found another man inside his garage and as he tried to run in his house, they shot him in the stomach.
We spoke with several neighbors off camera; many of them say they fear for their safety.
Others say the crime in this area has increased.
The Heller Park Homeowner's Association president says she thinks the crime is coming from the nearby apartments.
Tulsa police beg to differ.
"I don't think you can say they're from the apartment complexes without knowing these individuals and where they live. I think it would be unfair and unjust to say these individuals came from an apartment complex we don't know that," says Ashley.
Police searched the London Square apartments Monday night, thinking the men may be hiding there, but they were unable to find them.
