Tulsa police arrested a suspect after he led them on a chase and held a woman hostage in a midtown Tulsa home.

Police tell FOX23 the chase started as a traffic stop near 24th and Gary just before 11 am on Thursday. The suspect, 36-year old Loyde Eslinger, drove off and crashed his car and took off running in the neighborhood.

Police say neighbors outside pointed police to where he was running and the man broke into a woman’s home and held her down on the ground inside. Police broke in and ordered the suspect to stop, threatening to shoot him.

Police say the suspect then ran through the backdoor of the house and police caught him. Police say the suspect began acting as if he was on drugs, but they think that was an act.

Police say Eslinger has several federal warrants.

@Unwashed Mass - He was "beat up" from the wreck and hopping fences. There were police in the back yard when he went out the back door, he was captured in the back yard and brought through the side gate to the front. The cops were there because they were already chasing the dirt bag. Always amazes me when the uninformed masses start sparking off. Or are you a professional internet troll?

No one was watching the back door when they entered with the K9 through the front, so he managed to make it down the block before getting caught. And the sheriff was there in less than two minutes? Just doesnt happen, but we never doubt the spokesperson.

@unwashed...guess that will happen to you when you run from the cops, crash your car ( putting other citizens at risk),commit a home invasion of an elderly woman and then try to run again. He's luck he didn't get shot by the cops and the private citizen. Be you would feel differently if it was your momma or your house he invaded. SHEESH!

Another station showed him beat up. That must be a post-chase requirement.
