It was a story you could only see on FOX23 News, and now Tulsa Police say the duo they called the "beer bandits" is behind bars.
FOX23 dug further into the case and found that the two are accused of stealing more than just beer. Police say Cornelius McGuire and Gerardo Cota hit at least three different places, and told them they did it for rent money. Bill Grant's bar was hit by the thieves. He's glad the two are in jail. "It makes me feel fantastic," he told FOX23. "All of us felt very violated." FOX23 first showed you in early February, video of the thieves stealing kegs of beer from Grant's bar. Tulsa Police began investigating immediately. "They went the extra mile on this one, not to say they don't always, but we were amazed," Grant said. During the investigation, police found some connections. Police matched the car used in the beer theft to similar car descriptions from people who witnessed two other burglaries. Officers say in those cases, the thieves stole furniture and appliances from unoccupied, but fully furnished homes. Police say they were able to find the car, which led them to the suspects. "They did a fantastic job, and we celebrate with them," Grant told FOX23. To show "R-Bar's" appreciation, Grant said they donated $1000 to the Tulsa Police Foundation. "It was very easy for us to write that check," he said.
