An experimental plane made a hard landing in rural Cherokee County on Monday afternoon.
Officials at the Tenkiller Air Park, near Cookson, said the plane's engine sputtered during takeoff.
The pilot tried to find a road to make an emergency landing, but hit trees instead. The pilot's wife said he wasn't seriously injured.
She said the accident was a fluke. She said this is the third plane her husband has built and adds they've been taking it on trips since January.
