Imagine the look of drivers on an area of highway when they see a pit bull driving a car.

That’s what happened at a car wash in Pryor on Tuesday.

Fox 23’s Abbie Alford spoke with a witness who saw it all happened and how it happened.

The owner wasn’t home when Fox 23 knocked on their door but Killys the dog was, chained up and behind the fence.

It’s not everyday a dog not only rides in a car but takes the wheel. Spot Free Car Wash employee, Mark Walker, says he saw it all happen.

"I heard someone holler and I had seen a car come off the four lane and backwards into this car wash," says Mark Walker. "As soon as I looked around the corner I saw the dog in the car, just the dog."

Walker was just as surprised as the dog must have been when he was left alone in the car and Killys bumped the gearshift into reverse.

"He went for a ride," says Sgt. Brent Crittenden.

Killys then backed the car out of the car wash and onto US Highway 69.

"When it hit the curb it turned the wheels allowing the car to a big circle along Highway 69.” Says Crittenden.

Driving back into the car wash where the dog couldn’t find the brakes.

"The first point of impact was on the wall then traveled down the wall against the back wall," says Crittenden.

This is a funny story, but my comment is that someone should be in charge of proofreading these stories. There were so many errors in this short news story that I lost count. The news media seems to be making too many mistakes that are distracting to the reader.

Too funny! I once knew a police dog in Mentone, Ind., that "drove" a police SUV into a gas station when he was left alone in the running vehicle with his leash looped around the shifter. I drive a station wagon and always keep my two dogs in the back and I have a gate to prevent them from getting into the driving compartment in case I have to leave them in the car while I run into a store or something.
