FOX23 news has confirmed an Oklahoma Highway Patrol plane has crashed in Pottawatomie County.

Officials say the plane went down just south of Highway 9, approximately two miles east of State Highway 102.

The pilot, Trooper Dennis Dickens, was life-flighted to Oklahoma University Medical Center with leg injuries. He is said to be in serious but stable condition.

Dickens was assisting troopers and other law enforcement officials with a search for an injured person who fled an accident scene on foot into a wooded area.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the aircraft collision.

Two troopers responded to a report of the crash and pulled the pilot out of the plane before it caught fire.
