BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Phillips 66 gave out its annual employee bonuses Friday morning and some employees said it's the most they've ever gotten.
A spokesman told FOX23 Phillips 66 had a great year in 2013 and they wanted to reward their employees.
Bartlesville Area Chamber President Sherri Wilt said whether they save that bonus check for something big, or use it for smaller things, she hopes they'll keep the money in town.
"We want people to stay here. Even if it's spread out among smaller places, just shopping, or if they spend it on one big thing like a car, something big, if they could stay here it sure helps the community," said Witt.
When that big of a portion of the population has extra money to spend in town it means more money collected in sales tax.
"The sales tax collections fund things that people just don't think about. You want good streets; street expansions and improvements, park improvements, police and fire. Just so many things you don't think about are funded through the city budget.," Witt said.
The Conoco Phillips employees will get their yearly bonus on Monday.
The two companies employ around 4,000 people at their Bartlesville locations.
