Parents turned out at the football game Friday night to show their support for the team and the coaching methods used.

"I understand that there's parents out there that have a different opinion than the rest of us and that's fine," said Shannon Hayes, the parent of a high school football player. "But for goodness sakes, not every child is made for football."

Hayes said she is a single mom who supports the coach because he's also teaching her son how to be a man.

"These kids need to learn to defend themselves on and off the field," she said.

The district of Hominy only has one middle school and one high school, where the athletic director of both schools serves as a coach for the high school. Many parents said their children grew up under the same leadership for years and they support it.

"Even though it's really hard and at the end of the day you know everyone is mad at each other you know its hot outside but hey we have fun out there," said player Hayden Carnes. "We’re real close we always try to stay close around here like one big family."
