A woman says she was beaten and kidnapped by a man who has a criminal history stretching across multiple states.

“He picked me up by my hair and choked me till I blacked out,” said the woman.

For her protection, FOX23 News is not identifying the woman.

The violent encounter led Tulsa police to a man with a criminal history in New Orleans.

Torey King, 33, is charged in Tulsa County with first-degree burglary, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.

Court records in New Orleans show King was charged in 2002 and 2011 for two different murders, but it's unknown why the charges were dropped or dismissed.

A woman who told police she was pistol whipped, kidnapped and strangled by suspect Torey King now sleeps with a machete.

"I don't want to live in fear anymore. And I shouldn't have to," said the alleged victim. “I’m very scared, very scared, still am, cause it's not over until he's gone."

She remembers that terrifying night on June 6 in North Tulsa.

"Someone running up my stairs, grabbed my phone and hid in the closet," said the woman.

She tells FOX23 News she's seen the man before, who found her in the closet and beat her.

"The next thing I remember is his feet in the in my ribs, my legs, my face."

She says she was praying to stay alive.

"I just didn't want to die, it wasn't my time," said the alleged victim.

She was forced to another apartment where she says a King called her friend for a ransom. That friend then called police.

"It starts ringing and it says 'Tulsa police' on the other line. I didn't call police I didn't have a chance to call police," said the woman.

When King went to check for officers, she says she was able to escape.

"I was looking behind me every step of the way," said the alleged victim.

FOX23 News told her King was arrested earlier that day and he is being held on $130,000 bond.

"I can sleep at night,' said the woman.

Robbery detectives say with King's criminal past and these charges they this was a big arrest.

“He is definitely a violent person and we want to keep people like this off the streets."

Detectives are investigating other pistol whippings and kidnappings cases King may be involved in Tulsa.

Court records show in New Orleans show he was convicted was sentenced to probation from 2007 to 2009 for possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.
