A Pittsburg County mother faces charges of child abuse by injury for using gasoline to try and kill lice.

Court records show in January Shana Suggs poured gasoline on her five-year-old daughter’s hair in an attempt to kill lice. A nearby space heater then ignited the gasoline. The child suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body.

Suggs could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Why not use RID? Not much more expensive than gasoline, and a lot safer. Also, gasoline is a solvent and surely would cause scalp irritation. I remember working on cars as a kid with my dad, we used gasoline to get gasket sealer off our hands. After a while it would start to sting!

Child abuse? I doubt that is a suitable charge for her. Being a mother myself, I would never use that type of home remedy, but I can see her heart in this matter. So sad. Hoping the child is ok and I am sure the guilt and horror the mother felt and is feeling now is sufficient enough. Prayers for the whole family.

I'm sure she never meant for that to happen. A better homeopathic remedy would be Vaseline or baby oil. Constructs the pests breathing. Warning!!!May be a little slippery :-
