Owasso Police arrested three men the parking lot of an Owasso Walmart on Thursday afternoon.
They're accused of stealing hundreds of dollars of name brand diapers, laundry detergent, beer and groceries.
Police said Gregory David Harris, 18, Christopher Payne, 25, and CaleeK Moore, 19, was attempting to steal $555.39 worth of products.
They were booked in Tulsa County jail. A fourth person, Justin Cullison, 20, was arrested after being found in the car that the other three men were loading the stolen products into, according to Owasso police. Cullison was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Tulsa Police Department’s Retail Crime Unit said the city loses upwards of $2 million a year in retail theft.
The name brand diapers and name brand laundry detergent is stolen so thieves can sell it on the black market, online on Craigslist, or on the streets to strangers, friends, and family.
Some boxes of Pampers can be sold for $0.50 on the dollar and thieves can make $1,000 per day.
In the last year Tulsa police’s Retail Crime Unit has identified as many as 500 people involved in black-market schemes.
Some local grocers have sold the Tide and Pamper products by locking up the cases, while other smaller stores are working to develop a way to track each box back to its original store, according to TPD.
