A section of highway 169 in Owasso will be dedicated to Spc. Christopher D. Horton on Thursday.
Horton was killed in action in Afghanistan on Sept. 9, 2011, while assigned to the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Brigade Combat Team. Sen. Rick Brinkley and Rep. David Derby will help dedicate a section of the highway on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Brinkley and Derby authored Senate Bill 1320, which designated U.S. Highway 169 from 106th Street North to 116th Street North the "Specialist Christopher D. Horton Memorial Highway".
Brinkley and Derby will be joined at the ceremony by County Commissioner John Smaligo, Owasso Mayor Doug Bonebrake, members of the Horton family and many other officials.
The ceremony will be held at 9:30 am adjacent to Walgreens, at 11605 North 135th East Avenue.
