The Osage County Sheriff’s office is investigating a missing man in old Hominy Lake, but the search has been called off for the day.

Deputies told FOX23 they got a call around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday about a possible drowning in the lake, which is located north west of Hominy.

Deputies said two men were fishing about 100 yards from the shore when their boat flipped over in the water. One of the men swam to the shore and then realized his friend was not with him, deputies said the man then swam back to try and find his friend but could not see him.

Osage County called the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for assistance with divers and they searched for the missing man until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and made a second search for the man on Monday.

Officials say heavy vegetation in the lake is hindering the search and no recovery has been made at this point.
