Oktoberfest kicked off Thursday night in west Tulsa with everything from bratwurst, Weiner dog races, the Chicken Dance, German alcohol, food and music.

Opening ceremonies included the 2nd annual Lederhosen Run.  About 350 runners joined the four-mile race.  Dozens dressed up in German clothing and ran the race in their old fashion attire.  Racers crossed the finish line into the beer tent and that made it worth every step.

There was a new corn-hole competition in the Keller Courtyard.  On Friday night there will be a Stein Carry competition at the Bier Stube.

On Saturday night McNellies Bier Barrel Race will kick off at 1:00p.m. in the Fassler Hall Stammtisch.

This is the 34th year for Tulsa’s Oktoberfest.  All in all the festival has donated almost $1,00,000 to Tulsa River parks Authority.
