Okmulgee County declared disaster area after flooding

The Board of County Commissioners for Okmulgee County declared Okmulgee County to be a disaster area due to heavy rains and flooding.

Officials cited flooding from storms that began on May 31st and lasted through June 2nd. They said the flooding caused considerable damage to public properties and a declaration was made to protect public health and safety and help emergency relief.

No deaths have been reported from the flooding. The declaration led to the implementation of the County Emergency Operations Plan.
