Oklahoma fans who didn’t make it to the game still cheered on their teams in Tulsa in front of the television. Many gathered at local restaurants bars and watch parties to root for their favorite teams on Saturday.
The OU Club of Tulsa gathered for a watch party at Leon’s on Brookside. Vice President of the group told FOX23 that football creates camaraderie between the fans and brings them closer together.
“It’s a history and tradition here in Oklahoma that sets the standard for our way of life,” said Michelle Tiffany.
Emily Holson told FOX23 that she and her husband support different Oklahoma teams but they don’t live in a divided house.
“This morning he was cheering for the OSU Cowboys and tonight we will be cheering for the Sooners,” said Holson.
Football fans told FOX23 that attending a watch party is the next best thing to being in the stadium.
“There’s not a bad seat in the house,” said Heidi Stevenson.
