FOX23 spoke with officials with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority in the past few hours, they said turnpikes across the state are clear and traffic is flowing smoothly.
By noon Friday, the OTA had at least one lane cleared in both directions on all turnpikes. By Friday evening, they expect to have all lanes cleared.
The trickiest part is going to be getting to the turnpikes.
FOX23’s Ian Silver talked to a couple earlier Friday stranded on a bridge on I-244 after they blew out a tire when they slid into median in downtown Tulsa.
They were worried that wouldn’t be their only challenge getting back home to Edmond.
“We don’t know what the interstate’s gonna be… or what the turnpike’s gonna be like. I think the side streets are the bad ones, and that’s what happened with us. We ended up on a side street that’s probably not your snow route,” they said.
The OTA will continue dropping salt and sand throughout the night as the roads re-freeze to keep them from getting too slick again.
