Two Fort Campbell Soldiers died June 3 when their dismounted patrol encountered an Improvised Explosive Device in Tsamkani, Afghanistan.
Identified were 2nd Lt. Justin Lee Sisson, 23, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Spc. Robert Allan Pierce, 20, of Panama, Okla.
Sisson joined the Army in May 2012, after graduating from Florida State University.
Pierce joined the Army in April 2011, and had served in Korea before arriving to Fort Campbell in August 2012.
Sisson’s awards include one Bronze Star Medal (posthumous), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Sapper Badge.
Pierce’s awards include a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Overseas Service Ribbon.
Sisson is survived by his parents, Kevin B. Sisson, and Phyllis M. Sisson, both of Phoenix, Ariz. Pierce is survived by his spouse, Christian M. Pierce of Huntington, Ark., and his parents, Mr. Randy R. Pierce of Panama, Okla., and Lonnetta R. Dart of Hartford, Ark.
A memorial ceremony will be conducted in Afghanistan.
