A shooting was reported at the University of Oklahoma.

The school posted this message on their website, Twitter and Facebook pages:  Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place. Gould Hall is the Architecture School, it is a main building on the south oval of the university. It is not far from the football stadium.

The original report happened just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Another tweet sent at just after noon updated the situation: Normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall where additional checking is continuing.

Catherine Bishop, the Vice President of Public Affairs at the University of Oklahoma told FOX23's news partners at KRMG that:

"At this time, no evidence has been found of any shots being fired. There are no injuries reported at this time. Both the Norman and OU police department have very quickly responded as well as emergency personnel. President Boren is at the scene. Normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall where additional checking is continuing."

OU President David Boren will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. to update the situation.

There's nothing like a little bang or someone imagining a gun to put the media into mass hysteria mode. I'm surprised someone hasn't speculated about an "assault rifle" already. But it turned out to be nothing. Yawn. And tcasey, how would you getting "your" text have prevented those 50 calls?

So glad nothing happened. However, wondering why I didn't get my text from Fox 23 like I do everytime anything else happens. My son goes there I would have liked to heard about it before getting 50 phone calls about it.

Crying "Wolf!" is more dangerous than people may think; look at how many people are running around now with literally their fingers on the triggers of some big guns.
