A spokesperson for the Oklahoma Naval ROTC said the annual relay of the Oklahoma/Texas football has been canceled because of the partial government shutdown.

The relay traditionally begins a few days before the game when OU Coach Bob Stoops hands off a football to a runner at the OU armory and the ball is then run all the way to Dallas.

The spokesman said the Secretary of the U.S. Navy said ROTC groups are not allowed to participate in outreach programs.

Pathetic! The shutdown has no impact on this event other than the fact that the government wants it to.
