A new Big 12 rule bans the Paddle People from using their paddles during OSU football games.
Traditionally the “Paddle People” bang paddles on the walls of Boone Pickens stadium during parts of OSU football games. On Wednesday, the Big 12 passed a new rule that prevents them from making such noise after the quarterback has been set.
The group posted about the new rule on their
Twitter page, “We have been told wa re not allowed to paddle (15 yard penalty) once the opposing QB is set (much like the band) per Big 12.”
They later posted “We are under the same guidelines as the band, even though we are not an official university spirit group.” The new rule is getting a lot of attention on Twitter, using the hashtag “paddlepeople” and “savethepaddlepeople.”
OSU takes on Texas in a Big 12 match up on Saturday night. The game will air on FOX23, kick off is scheduled for 6:50 p.m.
