The Oklahoma State Cowboys end the season on a high note after crushing the Purdue Boilermakers in the Heart of Dallas bowl. Area fans ventured out to watch the Pokes in action. Many gathered at Leon’s in Brookside to cheer on the Cowboys and were excited to see OSU up by three touchdowns at the start of the second quarter.
Jeff Burdge and his group of friends couldn’t make it to Dallas to see the Cowboys play so they opted for the next best thing, watching the game at a local restaurant.
"It's just a good place to get everyone together, and you don't have to host it because they do it for you,” says Burdge.
Like Jeff, many others made Leon’s in Brookside their New Year’s Day destination to catch the game.
"It's just a different scenery and the girls love to go out and see if their friends are here, and it's just a lot of fun and interesting and a different scene,” says OSU fan, Lanette Decelle.
OSU quarterback, Clint Chelf led the Cowboys by hitting 17 of his 22 passes before letting quarterbacks JD Walsh and Wes Lunt have a turn. Despite the win, fans say OSU got the short end of the stick when it came to bowl selection.
“They're looking great. But I don't think we should be in the bowl, I think we should be in a better bowl,” says Burdge.
The Cowboys will now end the season with an 8 and 5 record.
"I’m an OU grad but I'm always excited for the Oklahoma teams to do well and so I am really excited OSU is doing so great,” says Decelle.
“I’m really happy and I am looking forward to next year. We've got a lot to build on and I think we're going to be a really good team,” says Burdge.
This Cowboy win has Jeff thinking about ways to better himself in the New Year.
"I’m going to start saving a lot more money, hopefully,” he says.
If you didn’t catch the game, the final score was Oklahoma State 58 and the Purdue Boilermakers 14.
