The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a possible suicide after a traffic stop in Payne County.
The Payne County Sheriff’s Office requested help from OSBI after a Cushing man possibly committed suicide.
Investigators say a deputy attempted to stop a truck about five miles east of Perkins around 9:30 on Tuesday night. The deputy says the truck, driven by Clinton Blakely, ran a red light.
The deputy says Blakeley refused to stop, so two deputies attempted to make a road block to stop him. Investigators say when Blakeley slowed down the deputies instructed him to get out of the truck and shot out the tires to stop the truck.
Deputies say they discovered Blakeley had a gunshot wound to the head when they approached the truck. A gun was found in the cab of the truck. Blakeley died at the hospital.
The medical examiner's office will make the official determination of the cause and manner of Blakely's death.
