In Oklahoma City, coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings is especially poignant.

Friday marks the 18th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. FOX23’s Brittany Jeffers spoke to people at the Oklahoma City Bombing memorial after the bombing in Boston.

Many people traveled from around the area and across the country to visit the memorial and say coming here the week of the bombing anniversary is difficult, especially in light of the Boston Marathon bombing.

They say they are thinking of the runners and their families, “I wish I could help people. I encourage people to talk about… even if this kicks up old memories. Talk about it that's the way to get passed the fear. We have to rally together and figure out how to make this work and we have to make public events of all kinds safe.”

A ceremony will be held on Friday at 9am to commemorate the OKC bombing.
