Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will be watching for drunk drivers this New Year’s Eve.
Officials said 20 state troopers will be out on Tulsa streets helping the police stop unsafe drivers.FOX23 found 261 people were killed in drunk driving accidents last year in Oklahoma.
“We have to go to the house, knock on the door tell someone that someone they love has been killed in this horrible event. That's what we're really trying to prevent," said Capt. George Brown with OHP.
The crackdown will start at seven Tuesday night and go through the early morning hours. Troopers said getting charged with just one DUI offense could cost more than $19,000.
