The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says they are not sweeping the case of the trooper versus paramedic under the rug.
The incident happened along a road in Okfuskee County May 24th.
OHP’s investigation into this now complete and the trooper’s dash cam video we may never see.
FOX23’s Abbie Alford reports on the mystery woman who was sitting in the trooper’s cruiser and saw it all happen.
FOX23 has learned Trooper Martin’s wife was inside his OHP cruiser during the incident.
OHP policy allows family members to ride along. But she’s one witness we have not heard from and we won’t.
Her statements are part of an internal investigation not made public.
What we are hearing tonight is a bit more from both men involved in this confrontation.
A knock on the door to Trooper Daniel Martin’s home was enough to get him to come out on his porch. He acted respectful but he didn’t say much when FOX pressed for answers.
"I believe this will play out in the end we should allow the investigation to take its course. I'll let it go with that. I don't want to interfere with any ongoing investigations," says Martin.
For many the biggest question is what happened before cell phone video caught the heated argument all while a patient was in the back of the ambulance.
The trooper’s dash cam video could provide the answer. In a written statement Trooper Martin says there was another scuffle between the two. The troopers saying the paramedic Maurice White wouldn’t listen to him.
"I repeatedly ordered Mr. White to turn around. I attempted to take Mr. White into custody but he flexed his arms up to his chest preventing me from having control of his arms to place him in handcuffs," writes Martin. “I noticed that Mr. White had followed me to my patrol car and it appeared that he was not as concerned with the patient....but more with the crowd and what was going on."
But in an interview only with FOX White says he can’t believe a trooper would put his hands on him like that.
"This isn't really happening, look he's taken an oath just as I have to protect and serve and even after being informed that we have a patient I could not believe this was happening," says White.
