Around-the-clock road clearance operations continue on highways throughout the state.

With temperatures expected to remain below freezing tonight, Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews anticipate black ice and conditions will develop and urge drivers to avoid travel if possible.

Areas in northeastern, southeastern and central Oklahoma remain snow packed and slick.

ODOT urges drivers to use caution on the evening commute and give road-clearing equipment plenty of room to work.

Portions of the Panhandle and far western Oklahoma report improving travel conditions.

While travel is discouraged, motorists who plan to travel to the Bedlam football game on Saturday need to be extremely alert to icy and hazardous conditions and plan for extra drive time.

During snow and/or ice conditions, motorists are asked to:
• Check road conditions before getting out on the roads.
• Stay at least 200 feet behind road-clearing equipment; crews need room to maneuver and can engage plowing or spreading materials without notice.
• Allow extra space between vehicles, so there is adequate distance for braking in wet and icy conditions.
• Be aware of "black ice," which looks wet on the roadway, but is actually a thin layer of ice.
• Please be patient, plan trips ahead and allow extra time to reach destinations
